Want to use a display on your keyboard, but don't like the significant battery draw that usually comes with it? There's a solution now: using the nice!view by Nice Technologies, you can make use of a highly efficient Memory-in-Pixel (commonly referred to as E-Ink) display by Sharp in a convenient form-factor.

It boasts a 30Hz refresh rate while drawing comparable power to an E-Ink display. And with a resolution of 160 x 68 pixels in a 1.08" display, there's plenty of space to go around!

You can use the display for anything, from displaying the battery, connection, layer and lock statuses, to displaying graphs and animations.

NOTE: This display is not a plug and play drop-in replacement for OLED displays. The nice!nano is a wireless, BLE (Bluetooth) enabled replacement for the Pro Micro or Elite-C powered by the nRF52840 SoC. The nice!nano utilizes a LiPo battery allowing you to make your board completely wireless and has an on-board charging circuit, so simply plug in your keyboard to charge the battery, and use it wireless any other time you want.

**Note:** Includes square post headers for assembly. It is recommended to socket using Mill Max Low Profile Sockets.

**Note:** Due to the nature of this product, it cannot be included in assembly orders.

**Note:** Please remember, you will need to find space on your keyboard to put the battery. The stock header pins allow the battery to rest underneath the controller, but do remember that it is recommended these be socketed, so check your clearances depending on the socket you use (if you elect to use a socket).

Compared to existing wired solutions like the Pro Micro or Elite-C, the nice!nano v2.0 is still in development, and along with that comes a certain amount of hands-on setup, troubleshooting, and general knowledge that is required in order to successfully install. Due to running on 3.3v compared to the 5v that the Pro Micro and Elite-C supply, it is not recommended to install RGB LEDs or OLEDs as these account for considerable power-draw.

LED (SK6812 Mini)

The Elite-C is an Pro Micro drop-in Microcontroller developed to offer a better alternative to the Pro Micro while still being fully backwards-compatible. It sports the very same AVR ATmega32u4 8-bit microcontroller which has an integrated USB controller and pin-out while adding 6 more pins. Like the name states, the Elite-C features a more modern USB-C port which is also more durable and less prone to tear-out. Since almost all keyboards utilize the Pro Micro's footprint, this drop-in upgrade is a great way to take any board you build to the next level. 

The newest iteration, the Elite-C v4, features a 'low-pro' design and is the new standard for the Elite-C. Not only is the v4 shorter in height that the previous version, it is more durable. The center-mount USB C connector is considerably more sturdy and also decreases the total height of the Microcontroller. Another new addition is the inclusion of a VBUS pin that is broken out and placed directly above pin B0 on the PCB.

Elite-C (v4)

PCBabies offer a great way to connect a hand wired keyboard build. These PCBabies are MX Hot Swap compatible, allowing you to easily swap out your switches even in a hand wire build. You are purchasing a small sheet which consists of 25 PCBabies that can be broken apart to service individual switches.

WS2812B RGB LEDS are very common individually addressable LEDs meaning that each one can be told to be a certain color. For our uses with keyboards commonly we use them for underglow and sideglow/side-lighting decorative lighting.

OLED screens communicate with your microcontroller over I²C to display helpful or otherwise cool/interesting information. For keyboards that are compatible with the OLED displays, they are an awesome option to customize your keyboard and offer a unique high-tech look. By default, the screen will show the layer that is currently active, but you're able to customize the screen to display basically anything you want.

These are our new custom OLEDs! They are matte black in color and each have the male socket header pins pre-soldered onto them. Included in every antistation alongside each OLED purchased there are the female socket pins included. Each OLED purchased gives you the necessary items required to solder the OLED with no additional socket purchases. If for some reason you do not want to use the OLED socketed, it is no problem simply solder it onto the board as usual.
